Can I get a refund because I didn't realize that roiquant's AWS Activate perks offering are only redeemable if I subscribed to roiquant Standard or Premium plan and pay with annual billing? Or, if I accidentally subscribed to monthly subscription instead of annual subscription?

Due to the nature of roiquant's data and information being digital content, and our cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) ABI solution being a digital product, we unfortunately do not offer refunds once given access.

Reason being, once a subscription plan order is made and paid for, you will be immediately given access to our roiquant SaaS ABI (Analytics & Business Intelligence) platform to consume our data and information. Therefore, we do not process refunds.

Please carefully review the terms and conditions outlined in our refund policy. By purchasing our roiquant subscription plan, you explicitly agree to adhere to our refund policy.

  • It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with our refund policy
  • By placing a subscription plan order for any of our roiquant products, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to the terms outlined in our refund policy
  • If you do not fully agree with or accept the terms laid out in our refund policy, please do not place a subscription plan order with us

That said, if you had accidentally purchased our subscription plans twice to redeem the AWS Activate credits, please contact our roiquant support team immediately.

  • For example, you have placed an order for our Standard Plan on monthly billing, as well as subscribed to our Standard Plan on annual billing
  • In another example, you had purchased our Standard Plan on monthly billing, as well as paid for our Premium Plan on annual billing
  • In a final example, you subscribed to our Enterprise Plan on monthly billing, as well as bought our Premium Plan on annual billing
What is the AWS Activate program and why should I become an AWS Activate member?

AWS Activate is the flagship startup program from AWS (Amazon Web Services), the world's most broadly adopted cloud computing platform. From the earliest stages, AWS Activate provides founders and their teams with cloud credits, technical support, and business mentorship.

It is free to join, whether a founder is just starting to ideate an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) or is on track to IPO (Initial Public Offering), AWS Activate is a startup's first step to prove that their world-changing ideas are possible.

As an AWS Activate member, you can apply for AWS Activate credits, apply for accelerator programs offered by AWS, and browse Startup Showcase to explore the many startups that have built and launched a product on AWS as a way to find inspiration, connect and collaborate with the AWS startup community. You can also find curated events and explore training resources tailored to your use cases.

What are the benefits once I am approved for AWS Activate credits?

Benefits of AWS Activate credits include:

  • Build on AWS with AWS Activate credits: If approved, AWS Activate credits will be added to your AWS Account and will automatically apply towards the cost of AWS Eligible Services. You can check your credits balance in your AWS Billing and Cost Management Console. AWS Activate credits can also be used for third-party models on Amazon Bedrock.
  • Explore other startups and promote your startup at Startup Showcase: AWS Activate members that have received credits offers can promote their startup on Startup Showcase, a directory designed for AWS startup customers. If you've built and launched a product on AWS, create a page to promote your offerings to potential customers, investors, and partners.
  • Get technical help anytime, anywhere with AWS Support plans: If approved for AWS Activate credits, you can get help when you need it most with AWS Support. With AWS Support, you can put your energy where it belongs - on your business. Use your AWS Activate credits to enroll in either the AWS Developer Support plan or AWS Business Support plan.
  • Exclusive offers: As you start building using your AWS Activate credits, you can get ahead with Activate Exclusive Offers from organizations such as ZenDesk, Stripe, DataDog, Brex, HubSpot, Chargebee, and many more.
  • Pre-built infrastructure templates: AWS Activate Credit approval also allows you to explore solutions with Build, a collection of cloud templates and integration guides curated by AWS experts to tackle the most common industry-specific and product-specific use cases.

Who can apply for AWS Activate credits?

AWS Activate credits applications are only open to startups who are self-funded, or funded with angel, preseed, seed, pre-series A, and series A investment, as well as debt finance. Startups must be founded within the last 10 years and have a functioning website or public profile.

Companies that are more than 10 years old or funded from series B and beyond, are not eligible to apply for AWS Activate programs to redeem the AWS Activate credits.

Unfortunately, if you are building on AWS China Regions, you are not eligible for this AWS Activate program. AWS startup customers (China and Hong Kong AWS accounts) in AWS China Regions, please apply for the AWS Activate China program here.

How do I apply for AWS Activate credits?

You can apply for AWS Activate credits on the AWS Activate credits page. To apply for credits, you must first become an AWS Activate member. In total, there are four steps to complete your application:

  1. Create an AWS Builder ID
  2. Complete your AWS Activate profile
  3. Link your AWS Activate profile to your AWS Account
  4. Submit your AWS Activate credits application

Review the steps below or use our step-by-step instructions for extra guidance.

  • Step 1: Click “Apply Now” button on the AWS Activate credits page. You will be redirected to create your AWS Builder ID. All AWS Activate members first start with an AWS Builder ID. AWS Builder ID is a personal profile for every individual that builds on AWS. It provides access to tools and builder services on AWS, which stays with you as you move between jobs, schools, or other organizations.
  • Step 2: Once you verified your AWS Builder ID via email, you will be directed to complete your one-time AWS Activate membership profile. This allows you to save your progress throughout the application steps, as well as to help us better understand your needs and your startup so we can personalize your experience.
  • Step 3: Once you saved your profile information, continue the steps to complete the credits application. During this step, you will select the appropriate AWS Activate credits package, reference your Org ID (if applicable for Portfolio), and link your AWS Account ID to your AWS Activate membership. By linking your AWS Account ID, it helps to validate the account and route the credits appropriately once your application is accepted.

Note: Only one Builder ID can be linked to your company's AWS Account. If other members of your team have already linked their Builder ID to your company's AWS Account, make sure that they have first unlinked their Builder ID from your company's AWS Account, before linking the designated Builder ID. If you run into any issues, contact the AWS Activate support team.

  • Step 4: Carefully review your application to make sure everything is accurate. If you need to verify any information with your colleagues, your application progress is saved to your AWS Activate profile. Once you are ready, click submit. You will receive a confirmation email to confirm your submission.

In 7-10 business days, you will receive an email informing you if you were approved for AWS Activate credits or not, as well as the value of your credits offer, if approved. Your AWS Activate credits are automatically applied to your AWS account upon receiving your application approval email. You do not need to do anything else, just enjoy your AWS Activate benefits accordingly.

For step-by-step instructions on how to apply for AWS Activate credits, read our AWS Activate credits application guide.

What is an AWS Activate Provider and what is an Org ID (Organization ID)?

An AWS Activate Provider is a venture capital firm, angel investor, accelerator, incubator, or other startup-enabling organization (company such as roiquant) that has partnered with AWS Activate to provide AWS Activate benefits to their affiliated startups.

Each AWS Activate Provider (such as, venture capital firm, accelerator, incubator, or any startup-enabling organization) has a unique identifier called an Org ID (Organization ID). An Org ID is confidential and should not/never be shared - it is not a promotional code. Therefore, you must protect your AWS Activate Provider's Org ID upon receiving it because it was invaluably offered to you in helping you grow.

In order to apply for AWS Activate Portfolio, you must enter the Org ID given to you by your AWS Activate Provider during the application process.

If you are associated with an AWS Activate Provider, but you do not have their Org ID, please reach out to your AWS Activate Provider to request for it.

If you are not associated with an AWS Activate Provider, you can be affiliated with roiquant by purchasing our annual subscription plans, and we will provide you with our Org IDs for you to redeem your AWS Activate credits accordingly.

Unless you are not eligible to apply for the AWS Activate Portfolio program, you may be eligible to apply for the AWS Activate Founders program.

What can I use AWS Activate credits for? What's not covered by the AWS Activate credits?

AWS (Amazon Web Services) is the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud computing platform, offering over 200 fully featured services from data centers globally. You can use your AWS Activate credits for AWS “Eligible Services”, from infrastructure technologies such as compute, storage, and databases, to emerging technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, data lakes, analytics, and Internet of Things.

AWS Activate credits cannot be applied to any fees or charges for Amazon Mechanical Turk, AWS Managed Services, Ineligible AWS Support, AWS Marketplace (with the exception of charges incurred through the use of third-party foundation models available on Amazon Bedrock), AWS Professional Services, AWS Training, AWS Certification, Amazon Route 53 domain name registration or transfer, any Services for mining for cryptocurrency, or any upfront fee for any Services such as Savings Plans and Reserved Instances.

For information regarding “Eligible and Ineligible Services”, please visit the AWS Promotional Credit Terms & Conditions and the AWS Activate Terms & Conditions. Any other services not listed in the AWS Billing and Cost Management Console is not covered by AWS Activate credits.

I'm associated with more than one AWS Activate Provider, can I apply for AWS Activate credits more than once?

Moreover, I have also received multiple AWS Activate credits offers/packages (each with different Org ID) in different credits amounts from the same AWS Activate Provider, such as USD $5,000 AWS credits, USD $10,000 AWS credits, and USD $25,000 AWS credits. If I accept one, will that make me ineligible for the other AWS Activate credits packages?

Yes, you can apply for AWS Activate Portfolio credits more than once as long as:

  1. Each of your application is for a greater amount of AWS Activate credits than your previously approved application (or AWS Activate credits package)
    1. For example, you were approved for USD $5,000 AWS Activate credits and you are now applying for USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits, or you were previously approved for USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits and you are now applying for USD $25,000 AWS Activate credits, or you previously received USD $25,000 AWS Activate credits and you are now applying for USD $100,000 AWS Activate credits
    2. You can receive all these different AWS Activate credits offers/packages from one single or multiple AWS Activate Providers
    3. Whether you are redeeming the AWS Activate credits from one or multiple AWS Activate Providers, each of the AWS Activate credits offer/package has a unique Org ID assigned to each of the AWS Activate Provider
  2. You have not received the maximum lifetime value in AWS Activate credits (not including AWS Support plan credits)
  3. You have a valid Org ID from your AWS Activate Provider
    1. You may apply for different AWS Activate credits offers/packages from different AWS Activate Providers, so long as each of your application is for a greater amount of AWS Activate credits, as explained above
    2. It is important to note that you can only redeem the AWS Activate credits from the unique Org ID once, which is assigned to each of the AWS Activate credits offer/package available to each of the AWS Activate Provider
  4. You still meet the criteria of the AWS Activate credits program
Why did I receive a different AWS Activate credits amount than what I've applied for?

If your startup had previously received the AWS Activate credits from AWS Activate, and you are applying for additional credits which is a larger amount than what you have received so far, you will receive the difference between the two AWS Activate credits packages.

For example, if you were previously approved for USD $5,000 AWS Activate credits, and you are now applying for USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits, upon approval you will only receive USD $5,000 AWS Activate credits (USD $10,000 - USD $5,000 = USD $5,000).

In another example, if you had previously received USD $15,000 AWS Activate credits, and you subsequently applied for USD $25,000 AWS Activate credits, you will only receive USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits (USD $25,000 - USD $15,000 = USD $10,000).

In a final example, if you have used up to USD $40,000 AWS Activate credits, and had just applied for USD $100,000 AWS Activate credits, you will only receive USD $60,000 AWS Activate credits (USD $100,000 - USD $40,000 = USD $60,000) once your application is approved.

However, if you are applying for a smaller amount of AWS Activate credits than what you have already received to date, such as previously received USD $25,000 AWS Activate credits and you are currently applying for USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits, or if you have already reached the maximum lifetime value of AWS Activate credits, your application will be declined (not approved).

Why my AWS Activate credits application was not approved (declined)?

There are many reasons to “why your application may not have been approved”. However, the most common reason is that your AWS Activate credits application did not meet the application criteria.

The common reasons may include, but are not limited to:

  1. You have received the maximum lifetime value in AWS Activate credits
  2. You applied with a different email address than the one used to set up your AWS account
  3. You do not have a fully functioning website or public profile (please contact AWS Activate team if you have alternative proof of your startup)
  4. You submitted duplicate applications
  5. You supplied inconsistent business information
  6. Your application is for the same or lesser amount of AWS Activate credits than your previously approved application (or AWS Activate credits package)
    1. For example, you were previously approved for USD $25,000 AWS Activate credits and you are now applying for USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits, or you were previously approved for USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits and you are now applying for USD $5,000 AWS Activate credits
  7. Your application was for the same AWS Activate credits offer/package (with its unique Org ID) that you had already received/redeemed from the same AWS Activate Provider which you can only benefit for one time redemption only
    1. For example, you had exhausted the USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits package with its unique Org ID that you have redeemed from your AWS Activate Provider, and you are now applying for the same USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits package with the same Org ID from the same AWS Activate Provider
  8. You are funded beyond series A (such as series B and beyond) and/or with private equity investment
  9. You do not have a valid Org ID from your AWS Activate Provider
  10. Your company was founded more than 10 years ago

For more information, please refer to the status email sent to the primary applicant email used in your application.

I have received AWS credits from AWS EdStart or other AWS credits program. Does this make me ineligible for AWS Activate program?

Yes, you are still eligible to apply for AWS Activate credits. AWS Activate credits issued by AWS Activate are not impacted by previous AWS Activate credits you may have received through other programs, including AWS EdStart.

What is the status of my application for AWS Activate credits? How long does it take to process an AWS Activate credits application?

We are unable to provide updates on the status of your application. Please refer to the status email sent to the primary applicant email used in your application.

On occasion, application processing time may take longer than normally expected, but rest assured, our AWS Activate teams are working through all of the applications as quickly as we can. When your application has been processed, you will receive an email from AWS Activate.

AWS Activate credits applications are processed in the order they are received. It usually takes 7-10 business days for applications to be processed. Unfortunately, we are unable to expedite application processing.

I am a founder of two startups. One of my startups has already received AWS Activate credits. Can I apply again for my second startup?

Yes, you may. However, it is important to note that each startup must have its own AWS account. If you apply from the same AWS account, even though the second startup is a separate entity/company, your application will be rejected.

What are the AWS Support plans available for me if I'm approved for the AWS Activate credits?

From 11 April 2023 onward, all of the approved AWS Activate credits applications will receive a single AWS Activate credits offer that can be applied towards AWS Eligible Services and/or AWS Support.

The applied AWS Activate credits are eligible to cover both the AWS Developer Support and AWS Business Support plans. View and compare the AWS Support plans.

For customers who had received the AWS Support credits before 11 April 2023, you will continue to have access to such credits until exhaustion or expiration (whichever comes first). If you exhausted your AWS Support credits and you do not wish to continue with your AWS Support plan, you must downgrade to AWS Basic Support to avoid incurring any charges. You may downgrade to AWS Basic Support by following the instructions here.

Can I share my AWS Activate credits with associated accounts? How are AWS Activate credits shared among parent and child accounts?

If you have enabled the credits sharing in the AWS Billing and Cost Management Console, your AWS Activate credits may be used by the parent account, as well as any associated child accounts.

If you wish to disable (or enable) the credits sharing across your multiple accounts, please follow the instructions here.

Please note that the credits will apply to the AWS account effective immediately when the credits sharing is enabled in the same month.

My AWS Activate credits application was declined because AWS Activate was unable to confirm my association/affiliation with my AWS Activate Provider. What should I do?

Please contact your AWS Activate Provider and ask them to verify your association/affiliation by responding to the AWS Activate verification email sent by our AWS Activate team. If your AWS Activate Provider is unable to find the email, please ask them to reach out to their AWS representative.

Why are my AWS Activate credits not covering my outstanding AWS bills?

Your AWS Activate credits do not apply to your AWS bills due to the following circumstances:

  1. You have fully consumed/exhausted all of your AWS Activate credits (sign into the AWS Activate Console to check your credits balance)
  2. AWS Activate credits cannot be applied to any fees or charges for Amazon Mechanical Turk, AWS Managed Services, Ineligible AWS Support, AWS Marketplace (with the exception of charges incurred through the use of third-party foundation models available on Amazon Bedrock), AWS Professional Services, AWS Training, AWS Certification, Amazon Route 53 domain name registration or transfer, any Services for mining for cryptocurrency, or any upfront fee for any Services such as Savings Plans and Reserved Instances
  3. AWS Activate credits cannot be used to offset or cover historical AWS bills because the AWS Activate credits are only applied to offset eligible AWS Services fees and charges incurred during or following the billing cycle in which you received the AWS Activate credits

For information regarding “Eligible and Ineligible Services”, please visit the AWS Promotional Credit Terms & Conditions and the AWS Activate Terms & Conditions. Any other services not listed in the AWS Billing and Cost Management Console is not covered by AWS Activate credits.

Can I use my AWS Activate credits to cover for AWS Enterprise Support or AWS Reseller Support plans or AWS Service bills?
How many times can I benefit from a specific AWS Activate Provider's credits offer/package?

You can only benefit from an AWS Activate Provider's specific offer (credits package) once.

If your AWS Activate Provider has two offers (credits packages, such as USD $5,000 AWS Activate credits, and USD $10,000 AWS Activate credits), you may apply for the second credits package as long as:

  2. You have not received the maximum lifetime value in AWS Activate credits (not including AWS Support plan credits)
  3. You have a valid Org ID from your AWS Activate Provider
  4. You still meet the criteria of the AWS Activate credits program
