Failed Acquisition (Takeover)

Company was acquired by a larger company in the same industry

Only months after it received its initial investment, Townrush was acquired by Grofers, an express delivery service.
Grofers then discontinued Townrush.
While the startup managed to secure funding from seed rounds, Townrush was unable to raise fresh funds at a time when ventures in the same industry were consolidating with larger and more well-funded startups.

At one point in their relatively short stint, Townrush was so cash-strapped that they allegedly fired their delivery team of 30 people, and also failed to pay their salaries, leading to their office in Bangalore being vandalised.
