Rising acquisition costs and low repeat rate for outstation travel

Roder needed a good repeat customer rate to ensure good margins.
They were in a high inter-city space, that inevitably had a high cost of customer acquisition.
They also had to contend with the likes of Uber, a player in the same space, who gave promotional offers and made it difficult for Roder, as a startup, to sustain its operations.

Lack of Funds

They couldn't secure a continuous flow of funding from investors to remain sustainable

The cab business involves a lot of investment and time to build an ecosystem of drivers.
This ultimately translated the business needing a continuous fund tap.
Many startups in a similar business found it difficult to raise follow-on funding after the seed and early-stage rounds, because investors weren't confident of challenging Uber's spending power.
