Dopplr was a free social networking service, launched in 2007, that allowed users to create itineraries of their travel plans. It also allowed users to share those plans to spot correlations with their contacts' travel plans so they could arrange meetings at any point on their journey. Additional features included allowing the user to calculate the carbon footprint their journeys have produced

- In September 2009, Dopplr announced it was acquired by Nokia for USD 15-20M.
- This came after Nokia was also acquiring several other smaller startups that same year.
- However, the months after the acquisition, Dopplr users noticed that the usually engaging company was now silent, with little to no update of its plans.
- A year into the acquisition, Nokia finally announced that it had no plans for Dopplr, effectively leaving it dead and inactive.
