Reasons for Shutdown

Lack of Knowledge

The founder was in the company of one.

For some of those tools the founder used, he had some experience, but the depth of his knowledge was lacking since he was a company of one.
He had to learn and configure himself.
Although he succeeded at integrating each of those things, it cost him a lot of time.

Lack of Time

Time was very limited.

The founder fell into a trap where time was ultra-limited as College Conductor was a side project, thus having to only work at nights and weekends.
Another, software moves fast and new versions of tools were constantly released.

No Product-Market Fit

The product did not provide value.

All the time the invested in building the “right” thing was wasted because he didn’t do customer development.
It didn't produce the simplest version of the product that would provide value.
According to the founder, it did not take long before he completely lost his wife's (the market for the product) interest.
Without interest from his first customer, and no other strong ties to her industry, the founder was missing a good voice to drive the product forward.
Because she was disinterested, there was no external pressure on him to deliver something.
